CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Foods and cultures from about 30 countries will be spotlighted at the Campbellsville University Rotary Club International Dinner at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, on the campus of Campbellsville University.
The dinner will be in the Student Activities Center, and proceeds from the event will benefit the various local and international projects of the Campbellsville Rotary Club.
Susan Walters, an adjunct instructor in English as a Second Language at CU last semester, said the event will allow for an evening of sampling foods from many of the countries represented in Campbellsville, and especially at Campbellsville University.
Dr. Sandra Kroh, CU's director of English as a Second Language Institute and assistant professor, said international students from CU will be cooking, entertaining and talking about their countries.
There will be an international buffet from which you will be served an appetizer, entrée, salad/vegetable and dessert from various cultures.
After the meal, there will be 30-45 minutes of entertainment presented by area internationals.
“It will be an evening to enjoy, and to learn about the international flavor of our own local community,” Walters said.
Walters said there are people from more than 30 countries from around the world living in Campbellsville.
“These folks are students, teachers, business persons and their families. They are moms and dads and school children and young people…employers and employees, just like all of us,” she said.
“They are an amazing array of persons from around our globe who add culturally and economically to our local community,” she said.
She said they chose to be in Campbellsville for a variety of reasons, but “mainly because they appreciate our country and community, and want to be involved here with us.”
Walters said, “This is a richness that we all should share in… and take opportunities to learn more about.”
Tickets are $20 and $10 for students and are being sold by local Rotarians. Proceeds from this event will benefit the various local and international projects of the Campbellsville Rotary Club.
