CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -Dr. Ryan Gipson, assistant professor of mathematics at Campbellsville University, will speak at a seminar hosted by the university's Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 23, in Room 402 of Carter Hall, 112 University Drive, Campbellsville, Ky.

The seminar will be titled “Seminar in Advances in Mathematics and Math Education.”

Gipson will present on “On Factorization in Numerical Monoids.”

“The purpose for the Seminar in Advances in Mathematics and Math Education is to provide the mathematics faculty and students an opportunity to discuss mathematical questions, results and techniques of a more advanced nature,” Gipson said.

“We hope to find common interests to promote future collaboration and projects. For this particular seminar, we will be exploring more general factorization techniques of some more abstract algebraic objects that are relatively more accessible, e.g., the McNugget Monoid.”

Light refreshments will be provided for those in attendance.
