CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Campbellsville University's School of Theology is hosting its annual January Bible Study beginning Jan. 8 through Feb. 5, 2023.

The January Bible Study will explore Paul's Letter to the Ephesians, according to Dr. John Hurtgen, the school's dean.

“This letter written from a prison also happens to be Paul's most spiritual letter,” Hurtgen said. “From beginning to end, believers will not only be confronted with their identity in Christ as adopted and redeemed for God's own special purposes in the world but also instructions for the spiritual war and promises for the spiritual victory that those in Christ have been given.”

Hurtgen, who also serves as pastor of Mt. Gilboa Baptist Church in Taylor County, is leading the study, which is being held at Good Hope Baptist Church, 8320 Saloma Road, Campbellsville.

Three churches have partnered for the study: Mt. Gilboa Baptist Church, Good Hope Baptist Church (pastor, Gerald Murphy) and Mt. Washington Baptist Church (pastor, Jimmy York). All are invited to attend.

Sessions are held on Sundays from 5 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.

The outline for the January Bible Study is as follows:

Week 1 (Jan. 8): “Introduction” (Eph. 1:1-2) and “One Long Sentence About the Blessed God Who Blesses” (Eph. 1:3-14)

Week 2 (Jan. 15): “Another Long Sentence About Our Discovery of God's Hope, Inheritance, Power” (Eph. 1:15-23) and “We Are Saved By Grace” (Eph. 2:1-10)

Week 3 (Jan. 22): “No Longer Strangers and Aliens” (Eph. 2:11-22) and “We Are Reconciled to Others” (Eph. 3:1-21)

Week 4 (Jan. 29): “We Are Unified in the Church” (Eph. 4:1-16) and “We Are Made New, Part 1” (Eph. 4:17-5:20)

Week 5 (Feb. 5): “We Are Made New, Part 2” (Eph. 5:21-6:9) and “Spiritual Warfare/Spiritual Empowerment” (Eph. 6:10-24)
